Dental Provider Credentialing

A dentist cannot bill as an in-network provider until the payer has enrolled them.

Credentialing rarely feels urgent until a new associate starts on Monday and no plan has approved them. Each payer runs its own process, the paperwork runs long, and a missing detail can hold an application in place until somebody notices.

Floss & Finance manages the process from first application to confirmed participation. We do the chasing, and your providers keep seeing patients.

What credentialing covers

  • Initial payer enrollment. We prepare and submit the applications that bring a practice into a payer's network for the first time.
  • Provider enrollment. We add individual dentists to the payer relationships your practice already holds.
  • Re-credentialing. We prepare the periodic renewals payers require to keep each provider active in their network.
  • CAQH support. We help build and maintain provider profiles in CAQH ProView, the shared system many dental plans use to review credentials.
  • NPI information coordination. We check that National Provider Identifier (NPI) details for each dentist and for the practice match across every application.
  • Payer participation. We confirm which plans each provider participates in, so scheduling and billing work from the same list.
  • Enrollment status tracking. Every application carries a status and a next step, and we follow up with the payer until it closes.
  • Revalidation. We handle the periodic revalidation some payers and programs require.
  • Credential expiration monitoring. We track licenses and other documents that expire, and we flag each one before it lapses.

Keeping providers active after approval

Approval is not the finish line. According to a February 2025 Anthem dental provider newsletter, CAQH ProView notifies dentists every 120 days to re-attest that their information is still correct. We track those dates alongside license renewals and each payer's renewal cycle, so no profile goes stale while a claim waits.

A provider credentialed before the first patient sits down does not have to move that patient's appointment.
